Celebration of the Eids of Shaban (اعیاد شعبانیه) and Birthday of Imam Mahdi (AS)

ICCNC invites all the lovers and followers of Ahl al-Bayt to join us for the Eids of Shaban (اعیاد شعبانیه) celebration, especially the birthday of Imam Mahdi (AS), on Saturday, March 27, 2021, starting at 7:00 PM via Zoom Meeting.

The program includes Quranic recitation, Farsi lecture by Mr. Masood Adib titled “امید و انتظار”, English lecture by Dr. Hamid Mavani titled “Doubt Precedes Certainty in Matters of the Unseen”, and poetry reading (Mawludi).

Speakers’ Biography
Massoud Adib is a member of the Philosophy Department faculty at Mofid University, Qum, Iran. He has a master's degree in Islamic Philosophy and Theology from Qom University and formal seminary education at Qom seminaries. He has taught courses in Islamic theology and philosophy at Mofid University for many years. He is a regular speaker at Kanoon Towhid, Canada.

Hamid Mavani is Associate Professor of Islamic Studies at Bayan Claremont Islamic Graduate School / Claremont School of Theology in California. His expertise in Islamic Studies stems from academic training at universities and specialized theological training at the traditional seminaries in the Muslim world. His primary interests include Islamic legal theory, women and Shi‘i law, Islamic theology and political thought, Islam and secularity, intra-Muslim discourse, and environmental ethics. He is the author of a book published by Routledge in June 2013 titled, Religious Authority and Political Thought in Twelver Shi‘ism: From Ali to Post-Khomeini and is co-author with Dr. Ahmad Kazemi Moussavi on a work in progress on Islamic legal theory, to be published by IIIT. Dr. Mavani’s scholarship also includes translations of Islamic texts from Arabic and Persian into English. In this regard, he finished translating from Persian a ground-breaking work by Ayatollah Mohsen Kadivar on Islam, apostasy, and blasphemy (under contract with the Edinburgh University Press).
