Muharram 1443 Program - 10th of Muharram (Ashura)

Please join us for the Muharram 1443 program starting on Tuesday, August 17, 2021, at 7:30 PM. The program includes Quranic recitation, English lecture by Br. Ahmad Rashid Salim, Adhan and prayer, Farsi lecture by Dr. Naser Mahdavi titled “امام حسین (ع) ؛از قربانی سر تا قربانی ایده هایش “, Dua, and Azadari.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and surge of Delta variant cases in the Bay Area, ICCNC conducts this year’s Muharram events via Zoom and YouTube. Please click here to enter the Zoom meeting or ICCNC YouTube Channel.

Dr. Naser Mahdavi, Professor of Islamic Studies and Mysticism in Tehran, Iran. Dr. Mahdavi has a Ph.D. in Islamic Mysticism and has taught at several Iranian universities. He has published several books in Farsi and is a well-known author and sought-after speaker in Iran. For more information about his books and talks please see his Instagram.

Dr. Naser Mahdavi

Br. Ahmad Rashid Salim is the Friday Prayer Imam and current ICCNC board member and he is a Ph.D. student in Near Eastern Studies at UC Berkeley. He has been involved within the Muslim community in various roles and has taught on a wide range of topics including Islamic spirituality, ethics, community-building, youth outreach, and family conflict resolution. He's led inter-faith and intrafaith outreach efforts and appeared on live programming with global viewership, and spoken at various panels and conferences. He is also the author of an excellent introductory book on Islam titled “Islam Explained: A Short Introduction to History, Teachings, and Culture”.
