Arbaeen of Imam Husayn (AS)

Please join us on Saturday, September 9, 2023 at 6:30 PM to commemorate the Arabeen of Imam Husayn (AS). Arba'een or "the fortieth day," is a Shia Muslim religious observance that occurs forty days after Ashura.

The program includes dinner starting at 6:30 PM, prayer, and a lecture by Br. Ahmad Rashid Salim in English.

Br. Ahmad Rashid Salim is the Friday Prayer Imam and current ICCNC board member and he is a Ph.D. student in Near Eastern Studies at UC Berkeley. He has been involved within the Muslim community in various roles and has taught on a wide range of topics including Islamic spirituality, ethics, community-building, youth outreach, and family conflict resolution. He's led inter-faith and intrafaith outreach efforts and appeared on live programming with global viewership, and spoken at various panels and conferences. He is also the author of an excellent introductory book on Islam titled “Islam Explained: A Short Introduction to History, Teachings, and Culture”.
