Ramadan Mubarak!

As-salamu 'alaykum, with Greetings of Peace,

There were verified sightings of the crescent moon by naked eye at sunset on Sunday May 5, 2019 in different regions of North America; therefore, tomorrow Monday, May 6, 2019, will be the first day of Ramadan, 1440 A.H

We wish you and your family the best in this blessed month. Ramadan Mubarak!

“Oh you who believe! Fasting is prescribed to you as it was prescribed to those before you,

that you may become mindful of God”. Quran 2:183

The fasting month of Ramadan has come but the Eid Festival is also with us

The fasting lock has come but the salvation key is also with us

By fasting, our mouths get closed and our inner spiritual eyes widely opened

The shining Light of God that our eyes are seeking is also with us - Rumi

The arrival of the blessed month of Ramadan is upon us; therefore, the Board of Directors, staff, and volunteers of Islamic Cultural Center of Northern California wish you and your family a blessed Ramadan.

Ramadan is a month of fasting, a month of reciting and reflecting on the Qur’an, a month of praying and growing spiritually, a month of giving charity and helping others, and a month of strengthening our bonds with our family, friends, and communities.

May the blessings of God shower our hearts and minds in this sacred month. May God help us to clear our vision so that we can distinguish between the truth and falsehood. May God strengthen the bonds of friendship, sisterhood, and brotherhood among us. We hope that you are able to join us for our special Ramadan events.

Last year with your financial assistance we were able to provide over 1000 meals to homeless individuals in the City of Oakland as well as pay for part of the upgrade of the Center’s audio-visuals systems and new chairs for the lecture halls. Our goals this year, with your financial support, are to continue to fight hunger in Oakland, with providing meals to homeless communities on Saturdays as well as start to upgrade the Center’s restrooms.
