Ramadan of 1441 A.H. Mubarak! Saturday, April 25th is First Day of Ramadan

As-salamu 'alaykum, with Greetings of Peace,

There were no verified sightings of the crescent moon with the naked eyes at sunset on Thursday, April 23, 2020, in any region of North America; therefore, Saturday, April 25, 2020 will be the first day of Ramadan, 1441 A.H

We wish you and your family the best in this blessed month. Ramadan Mubarak!

“Oh you who believe! Fasting is prescribed to you as it was prescribed to those before you,

that you may become mindful of God”. Quran 2:183

The fasting month of Ramadan has come but the Eid Festival is also with us

The fasting lock has come but the salvation key is also with us

By fasting, our mouths get closed and our inner spiritual eyes widely opened

The shining Light of God that our eyes are seeking is also with us - Rumi

The Board of Directors, staff, and volunteers of the Islamic Cultural Center of Northern California wish you and your family a blessed Ramadan.

Ramadan is a month of fasting, a month of reciting and reflecting on the Qur’an, a month of praying and growing spiritually, a month of giving charity and helping others, and a month of strengthening our bonds with our family, friends, and communities. ICCNC has planned and organized programs and events that will be broadcasted via the ZOOM Meetings to help uplift you spiritually during this blessed month.

COVID-19 pandemic that is now gripping the entire world and affected our community individually and collectively. To meet the local and federal guidelines for fighting the pandemic and your safety, ICCNC has planned and organized programs and events that will be broadcasted via the internet to help uplift you spiritually during this blessed month.

Let us pray to Allah for more strength and his assistance for being more supportive of one another and the greater community, notably, the elders, homeless, economically distressed, and those marginalized in the society regardless of their faith. At times like this, what happens to some of us will ultimately impact us all. We should stand united in this pandemic, with compassion, kindness, empathy, and generosity for the survival, protection, and development of our children, families, communities, and humanity.

Additionally, with your financial assistance, the ICCNC Board of Directors and a team of volunteers plan to provide over 1000 meals to those who hit hard with the pandemic in Oakland. We also will provide grocery gift cards to families and individuals that are experiencing financial hardship due to COVID 19 pandemic.

Amid in all these despair and difficulties surrounding us, we cannot lose hope. As God says in the Quran

With every difficulty, there is relief. Verily, with every difficulty, there is relief.“ (Quran 94:5-6). Also, the great mystic poet Rumi says: ”Hardship may dishearten at first, but every hardship passes away. All despairs are followed by hope; darkness is followed by many sunshines.”

May the blessings of God shower our hearts, minds, and souls in this blessed month. May God help us to clear our vision so that we can distinguish between the truth and falsehood. May God strengthen the bonds of friendship, sisterhood, and brotherhood among us. We hope that you can join us for our special Ramadan programs.
