On Ashura Volunteers Gave a Message of Hope to 360 Oakland Unsheltered by Preparing Hot Meal for Them
On Saturday, August 29, 2020, on the occasion of Ashura, the martyrdom of Imam Hussain (AS) and his companion, the ICCNC volunteers prepared, cooked, and packed 360 hot meals (lentil and rice, meatballs, and apple juice) for the Oakland’s unsheltered population. The youth volunteers prepared handwritten messages of hope and encouragement on each of the boxes. The meals were picked up and distributed by the Berkeley Free Clinic’s volunteers.
