Ramadan of 1443 A.H. Mubarak! First Day of Ramadan will be Sunday, April 3, 2022

As-salamu Alaykum, with Greetings of Peace,

The new crescent moon was not sighted on the West coast with the naked eyes at sunset tonight, Friday, April 1, 2022; therefore, Sunday, April 3, 2022, will be the first day of Ramadan, 1443 A.H

We wish you and your family the best in this blessed month. Ramadan Mubarak!

“Oh you who believe! Fasting is prescribed to you as it was prescribed to those before you, that you may become mindful of God”. Quran 2:183

Look how fasting makes you

generously give a helping hand to a charity.

Look how fasting fully blossoms

like Lord’s beautiful Spring season.

Look how the garden of your soul

gets filled up with the heavenly

narcissus flowers of fasting.  (Rumi)

The arrival of the blessed month of Ramadan is upon us; we wish you and your family a very blessed Ramadan. Ramadan is not only a month of fasting but also a month of reciting and reflecting on the Qur’an, a month of praying and growing spiritually, a month of giving charity and helping others, and a month of strengthening our bonds with our family, friends, and communities.

Praise to God; after two years of social distancing due to the pandemic, we can now get together and join each other to celebrate Ramadan. We plan to have eight communal iftars and in-person programs, and nightly YouTube programs during Ramadan. We hope that you can join us for the iftars and the YouTube programs.

Last year during the pandemic, with your assistance, we provided hundreds of meals to the unhoused individuals in Oakland and distributed groceries to those in need. Please support us financially and volunteer with us to give food to the families in need during these challenging times of high food and housing costs in the Bay Area.
