Oakland Faith Trio 20th Anniversary Celebration via Zoom on Sat. Jan. 29, 2022 at 7:30 PM

Twenty years ago, a few weeks after the tragic events of September 11, 2001, a Muslim woman and her two grown daughters attended Montclair Presbyterian Church in an effort to create positive relations with Church members. From this simple beginning, an interfaith alliance of Muslims and Christians, and later Jews, was formed which became the Faith Trio and has continued for 20 years.

Representatives from three congregations, the Islamic Cultural Center of Northern California (ICCNC), Kehilla Community Synagogue, and Montclair Presbyterian Church (MPC) formed the Faith Trio. We have become a grassroots effort parallel to similar groups, locally and worldwide, that search for peaceful and deep dialogue, understanding, and goodwill. These goals are keenly felt to be our joint task through the values we share from our Abrahamic traditions.

As we celebrate 20 years of advocating for interfaith understanding and friendship, we will acknowledge and honor the many people who have contributed to maintaining this interfaith alliance over the years and hear from some of them.

After a panel presentation, we will have time for small group discussions. What is a favorite memory for you of an interfaith activity? Why was it meaningful to you? Have these activities changed your views of people of other faiths? What have you learned?

Please come share your experiences.

In addition to attending this event, we invite you to share your memories and thoughts about the Faith Trio here.
