ICCNC's Annual Year-End Fundraiser

The Islamic Cultural Center of Northern California (ICCNC) has launched its annual year-end fundraiser, and we kindly request your generous support to sustain our vital programs and services throughout 2024. With your contributions and blessings from Allah (SWT), we aim to achieve our goal of $90,000 by December 31, 2023.

The year 2023 has presented us with a multitude of challenges. We experienced the loss of a dear colleague and friend, witnessed escalating conflicts and injustices in several Muslim countries, watched ed the ongoing occupation and oppression in Palestine and the horrific killings of thousands of innocent civilians in Gaza, and grappled with the rise of Islamophobia in the United States. Despite these adversities, ICCNC persevered in its mission to serve the community, thanks to your unwavering support.

ICCNC's 2023 Accomplishments

Through your continued generosity, ICCNC expanded its outreach and social justice initiatives, drafted a new bylaw to enhance governance, and diligently pursued plans for its kitchen and safety/security improvement projects. Here are some notable achievements from 2023:

  • Partnering with the Support Life Foundation, we distributed 80,000 pounds of groceries and produce to 300 families weekly through our food pantry.

  • We provided over 24,000 meals and nearly $40,000 worth of supplies to Oakland's unhoused population.

  • Throughout the month of Ramadan, we produced and broadcast special nightly Ramadan programs on our YouTube Channel.

  • We commemorated religious events, including Ramadan, Muharram, Eids, and continued our interfaith collaboration with Oakland Faith Trio partners.

  • We hosted lectures and discussions led by renowned Muslim intellectual and writer Dr. Abdulkarim Soroush on the critical topic of science and religion, offered ongoing lectures on the Sixth Book of Masnavi, and presented interpretations of Imam Ghazali's Kimiyae Saadat.

  • We fulfilled essential Islamic services for the community, including marriage, burial, and memorial ceremonies.

  • We conducted weekly Friday prayers and broadcasted the Khutbahs via Zoom/YouTube.

  • Our YouTube Channel experienced remarkable growth, reaching over 13,200 subscribers, a 20% increase from 2022.

  • We collaborated with the Golestan Foundation to donate $10,000 for food distribution to underprivileged families in Iran.

  • We drafted a new bylaw, currently in its final stages, to improve ICCNC's governance.

  • We gathered additional information and consulted with experts to finalize the kitchen and bathroom improvement drawings and obtain fire department approval.

  • We implemented several fire safety enhancements, including updating exit doors, updating the fire suppression system, and making other necessary improvements.

  • We created a microloan program of up to $2,000 for those struggling to pay rent.

  • We have submitted two grant proposals to the state of California seeking funding to enhance our building security and energy efficiency. We eagerly await their decisions.

Upcoming Annual Gathering and Celebration

To celebrate ICCNC's accomplishments and honor our dedicated volunteers, we will host our annual gathering and celebration on Saturday, January 20, 2024, coinciding with the Birthday of Imam Ali (AS). Please mark your calendars, and we will provide further event details shortly.
