ICCNC Statement on the US Bombing Attack on Iran

On June 22, 2025, under the order of President Trump, the United States bombed Iran’s civilian nuclear facilities in support of Israel’s unlawful war of aggression against Iran. This bombing violates international law and the U.S. Constitution.

The U.S. attack was a clear breach of international norms and Article 2(4) of the United Nations Charter, which prohibits "the threat or use of force against the territorial integrity or political independence of any state." President Trump justified the strike by claiming Iran was on the verge of producing atomic weapons. However, this assertion contradicts the International Atomic Energy Agency’s (IAEA) consecutive conclusions and nearly all intelligence reports, including assessments by U.S. spy agencies, which concluded that Iran had not developed a nuclear bomb and is a signatory to the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT).

Bombing Iran without authorization from Congress constitutes a serious violation of the U.S. Constitution and the War Powers Resolution. It further marks a dangerous escalation and further destroys the frameworks of international law.. No president has the legal authority to launch a military strike on a nation that poses no imminent threat to the United States without Congressional approval. Iran did not pose an immediate danger to the U.S. This action represents a clear, impeachable offense under the U.S. Constitution. Similarly, these attacks occurred while the United States and Iran were conducting negotiations.

The ICCNC unequivocally condemns the U.S. bombing of Iran’s civilian nuclear facility, an action that risks triggering a wider war in the Middle East, further destabilizing the region, and causing the deaths of more innocent civilians.

We urge members of our community and all peace-loving Americans to contact Congress to condemn this attack, request an end to hostilities, and call for the launch of peace negotiations.
