Mayor Barbara Lee’s Eid Celebration with Oakland Muslim Leaders

On June 4, Mayor Barbara Lee welcomed Muslim leaders from across Oakland to her office for a special Eid celebration, recognizing the contributions and diversity of the city’s Muslim community. The gathering highlighted the Mayor’s ongoing commitment to fostering inclusion, interfaith understanding, and civic partnership.

Representing the Islamic Cultural Center of Northern California (ICCNC), Payman Amiri provided an update on the Center’s initiatives focused on supporting the poor, uplifting the disenfranchised, and combating food insecurity throughout Oakland. He emphasized the community’s dedication to service, collaboration, and social responsibility.

On behalf of ICCNC and the broader Muslim community, Amiri also extended heartfelt gratitude to Mayor Lee for her consistent inclusivity, her outreach to faith communities, and her leadership in strengthening bonds across Oakland’s diverse neighborhoods.
